Ellephantastic Tutorial - Spring Fever

Hi, Clare here. Today is my turn to do the tutorial over here at Ellephantastic. I decided that I would like to show you how to create a card that is extremely versatile for any occassion & quite simple to do.

The Spring Card or Diamond Card as it is sometimes known was very popular a couple of years ago & was probably the basis for the Easel Card being created.

First you need to cut a piece of card into an arrow shape. The best way to do this is use an A4 sheet It needs to measure 14cms wide.

Then you need to mark 3 points to create your arrow. These points will be at the following places... 21cms on the left side, 21cms on the right side. To get the point you need to mark a point 28cms high & 7 cms across. Draw a line to create the point & cut.

The next stage is scoring your arrow. You need to score horizontally at 7cms & 14cms (red score lines). You then need to make 2 score lines diagonally from the 2 side points to the 2 corners of your 1st score line (blue score lines).

You now need to make your folds. The horizontal score line's are valley folds. The diagonal score lines are mountain folds. When you have made your folds your card should look like this. Now you can decorate.

I like to cut all the different sections of paper out first before I start assembling. This way you can make sure they all fit. To cut the paper to fit your diamond, I start with a 10cm square piece of paper & cut down until it fits.
When you have assembled all the pieces you need take your card & lay out flat. This makes it easier for you to decorate. Once you have decorated your card you need to stick the diamond to the base. Do this by placing tape to the lower triangle of the card.

The design team have also been making Spring Cards & have come up with some great ideas so make sure you pop over to the DT Blog & check them out.
Don't forget to make sure you enter our Love & Distressing Challenge that is still running xx Clare x
